Dr. Deepa Madathil: Pushing Boundaries in Biomedical Engineering
Dr. Deepa Madathil, who is now a Professor and Director at VIT Bangalore, is among the notable alumni and a former Assistant Professor at BVRIT. With over two decades of academic and administrative experience, Dr. Madathil has worked with well-regarded institutions, including O.P. Jindal Global University, where she was a Fellow at the Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences (JIBS).
Dr. Madathil and her team have secured significant funding from esteemed Indian organizations such as ICMR, ANRF, and the Department of Science and Technology. Her work reflects a deep commitment to solving real-world challenges through science and innovation — ranging from advanced materials and robotics to cancer therapy, plant science, and sustainable environmental solutions.

Sridhar Ponugupati: Climbing Towards Growth
From the classrooms of BVRIT to the boardroom of Blaze Automation Pvt. Ltd., Sridhar Ponugupati has been leading the company as CEO for the past 16 years, shaping its growth and direction. A distinguished alumnus of BVRIT, Sridhar has earned IEEE’s Best Circuit Designer award, the Faraday Memorial Award, and ranked among the top 20 in Microsoft’s Windows Embedded Student Challenge. Blaze Automation is an IoT company that has been building home automation and security products for the last 15 years. They are committed to sustainability, embedding eco-friendly practices throughout their operations and supply chain.
Adding another milestone to his journey, Sridhar recently reached the top of Mera Peak in Nepal, which was not only a physical challenge but also an emotionally intense personal journey for him. He shared that the climb taught him valuable lessons about perseverance, resilience, and the power of setting ambitious goals. Holding the Indian flag at the top of the mountain was not only a proud accomplishment but also an inspiration to every Indian out there who dreams of summiting such peaks.

Srinidhi Deshpande: Pioneering Advances in Cell Therapy
BVRIT takes immense pride in featuring Srinidhi Deshpande, a distinguished alumnus and scientist in cell therapy, for his contributions to biomedical research. He recently led a workshop on Clinical Manufacturing of CAR-T cells alongside Pankaj Salvi at SACT 2025, utilizing the Cytiva platform. Held at ACTREC, Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai, the workshop was a key part of the Asia-Pacific Cell Therapy Conference & Hands-on Workshop Summit. With participation from top industry partners, the event focused on accelerating next-generation cell therapies in India. Srinidhi’s achievements continue to inspire BVRIT students and alumni to push the boundaries of scientific innovation.

Sai graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2017 and has since built a remarkable career as a Mechatronics Project Engineer at Bruce Power in Ontario, Canada.
During his time at BVRIT, Sai was an active leader in our Student Hostel Clubs, showcasing his dedication to community and teamwork. His enthusiasm extended beyond academics; he is a sports enthusiast who has achieved notable success as a two-time marathon winner and cycling champion.
Professionally, Sai brings over four years of diverse experience in robotics, control systems, mechanical design, and electrical troubleshooting. His passion for integrating mechanical and electronic systems has been instrumental in his contributions to Bruce Power, where he plays a key role in advancing mechatronic projects.

Currently pursuing his Master’s in Integrated Product Design at TU Delft, one of the top design universities globally, Srujan has consistently demonstrated a passion for crafting solutions that are both user-centric and impactful.
Recently, he was selected for the prestigious Design United: Exploring Possibilities 2025 program—a platform that brings together the best minds from Dutch universities to collaborate on the future of design. As part of this, Srujan is working on a project that explores inclusive, sustainable solutions through interdisciplinary collaboration.
Reflecting on his experience, Srujan shares that working with people from diverse cultures and disciplines has broadened his perspective and challenged him to think beyond conventional boundaries. The hands-on nature of the program, combined with real-world problem-solving, has been both intense and incredibly rewarding.

M. Hamsa Priya: A journey of scientific excellence
M. Hamsa Priya, currently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Biotechnology at IIT Madras, holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Ohio State University, building on her master’s from IISc and a bachelor’s from BVRIT. Her academic path reflects a strong and focused foundation in chemical engineering.
She has over two decades of research and teaching experience in biotechnology, having worked at top institutes like IIT Madras, Dow Chemicals, and Ohio State University, rising from fellowships to Associate Professor.
BVRIT proudly acknowledges the publication of M. Hamsa Priya’s article in PCCP, RSC’s themed collection Women in Physical Chemistry, celebrating International Women’s Day 2025. The article, titled “The counteracting influence of 2-hydroxypropyl substitution and the presence of a guest molecule on the shape and size of the β-cyclodextrin cavity,” explores how water molecules behave when they’re confined inside very tiny spaces—specifically, between two sheets of graphene (a super-thin form of carbon). She discovered how water changes its behavior in extremely tight spaces, which could help in designing better materials for applications like water filtration, sensors, or energy storage.

From his foundational years at BVRIT to becoming a trailblazer in India’s electric vehicle landscape, Kumar Prasad Telikepalli is driving transformative change in mobility. As the Co-Founder and CTO of Matter, Kumar Prasad is at the forefront of innovation in EV technology, working to redefine how India moves.
Recently, he was featured at the ETAuto Electric Mobility Summit 2025 – Telangana Edition, where he shared deep insights into battery innovation, energy storage, and the future of sustainable transportation. His thought leadership continues to shape national discourse on electric mobility and clean energy adoption.

R S S Deepika Rani (ECE 2013-17) has been honored with the prestigious John Deere Global Key Contributor Award 2024, standing out among 600 Senior Embedded Systems Engineers worldwide. She currently serves as a Sr. Embedded Systems Engineer (Level IV) at John Deere, Pune. Deepika is a dedicated sports enthusiast, with a passion for badminton and marathons. Family holds a special place in her heart, and it’s her unwavering grit, determination, and incredible work ethic that drives her forward in everything she does.
