The department of Mechanical Engineering was established at B. V. Raju Institute of Technology (BVRIT) in the year 2009 with an intake of 60 students. M.Tech in Engineering Design started in the year 2014 with an annual intake of 18 students. The intake of the M.Tech has been revised to 12 in 2023.

Why M.Tech. in Engineering Design?

The goal of this programme is to provide an engineering graduate with the ability to develop particular skills in the design, synthesis, and analysis of various mechanical engineering systems. The program’s main goal is to build design techniques that are heavily oriented towards research and complemented by real-world knowledge. In addition to the required core courses, students can choose from a wide range of electives to further specialise in a particular field of engineering design. To guarantee the quality of education, the teachers who are specialists in specific areas of engineering design assess the students on a regular basis.

Highlights of Engineering Design:

  • The major goal of the programme is to develop design procedures and approaches to problem-solving that combine a significant amount of research with practical applications.

  • To enable each student to specialise in a particular field of engineering design, a range of electives are offered in addition to core courses, according to their individual aptitudes. Professionals from the industry and top academicians from India and beyond assist in the two-year revisions of the curriculum and course syllabus.

  • Impart knowledge utilizing software to solve practical, design and analysis problems of machine elements to assemble the hypothetical mechanical system.

  • Promotes development of intellectual property by publishing research articles in international journals and conferences.

Thrust Areas in Research:

  • Mechanisms and Machines

  • Design & development of Metal Matrix Composites

  • Tribology

  • Robotics

  • Design & development of Polymer Matrix Composites

  • 3-D printing

Infrastructure and Facilities:

  • Ansys

  • Fluent

  • Gambit

  • CAE Softwares

  • Universal Vibration Machine

  • FFT Analyzer
