  • Dr. Samanasa Krishna Rao Professor and Head of the Civil Department. He has 23 years of teaching experience in engineering education along with research & Industrial Consultancy.
  • Dr.Samanasa Krishna Rao obtained his B.Tech degree from Bapatla Engineering College, Bapatla in 1998, and Master’s Degree from S.G.S.I.T.S, Indore in 2000 and Ph.D. from JNTU, Hyderabad in 2016.
  • He is a Guest faculty at the School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada.
  • He served at Velagapudi Ramakrishna Siddhartha Engineering College as an Associate Professor for 12 years and in Bapatla Engineering College as an Assistant Professor for six years.
  • He worked as a Professor and head of the department of Civil Engineering in Vignana Bharathi Institute of Technology(Autonomous) during 2017 to 2022. And later Director(Academic and Planning) from May 2021 to March 2023. He also served as Principal(in Charge) of Vignana Bharathi Institute of Technology(Autonomous) for about six months.
  • His research concentrated in the area of roller compacted concrete for paving applications using different mineral admixtures and alternate fine aggregate and industrial wastes.
  • His research interests include: Special Concretes for Paving applications, Use of waste materials in rigid and flexible pavements, planning and design of rural road pavements, soil stabilization etc.,.
  • He is life member of Prestigious Indian Roads Congress (IRC) and also life member of Institution of Urban Transport (India).
  • He has published more than 45 research articles in several peer reviewed journals and conferences. His h-index of 13 ( i-10 index of 15, total google scholar citation reached to 622 as of March 2023) strongly endorses his high research activity.
  • He authored one text book titled “ Road Material Testing and Pavement Evaluation” , Research India Publications, New Delhi.
  • He also co-authored a text book “Behaviour of Reinforced Cement Concrete and steel industrial chimneys”.
  • Currently he is a reviewer of several peer reviewed journals like, Construction and Building Material of Elsevier, Journal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering of Elsevier, Journal of Testing and Evaluation of ASTM, Journal of Road Materials Pavement Design of Taylor and Francis , International Journal of Pavement Research and Technology(IJPRT) of Springer Publishers ,World Journal of Engineering of Emerald Publishing House etc.,
  • He has been providing several consultancy services in the area of Traffic and Transportation Engineering, Pavement Design, Job Mix Formula, Mix Designs and Material Testing for Government and private organizations.
  • He Provided third party quality control services to Vijayawada Municipal Corporation, CRDA of AP, VGTM –UDA, Nellore Municipal Corporation , Guntur Municipal Corporation etc.,
