Activity: : Think – Pair Share and In Class Teams | Number of students participated: 60 |
Description:
Think-Pair-Share and In-Class Teams are the two approaches for teaching and learning that involves groups of students working together to complete a task. Upon covering the Fourier series analysis (Used to analyze periodic signals), Think-Share Pair and In-Class Teams activity has been conducted as formative assessment.
Outcome: The understanding ability of the students has been assessed by Formative assessment through collaborative learning (Think Share Pair and In Class Teams). More specifically, as it is based on the model that knowledge can be created within a group; students actively interacted by sharing experiences to understand the concept clearly.

Description of Activity:
To identify students of different levels and make them participate in active discussion for learning a concept. Upon completion of the topics differences between Auto Correlation and Cross correlation and their Properties as groups.

Outcome: As the group contained different level of students, mutual discussion among the students made them to understand the concept clearly. The students could be able to compare both the Auto Correlation and Cross correlation of Random Processes.
Teaching Design Thinking
Concept with Definition
Design thinking process is an iterative process where the industry should understand the user needs and emotions, define the problems and create innovative solutions to prototype and test.
Example
GE health care improved the user experience in the MRI room by redesigning it.
Unit Topic related to this concept
Case studies in health care.
Activity that can be done on this topic
Presentation with visual images and animations to make the students understand the topics.
- Use visual images and animations for story telling (using technology tools) instead of text for presentations. Use this as a teaching point in teaching visual thinking. Resources can be attached as animation videos, PPT slides or scanned drawings.
Unit Topic: Design thinking in Health care.
Concept:
GE health care saw a problem in how paediatric patients reacted to procedures. Many children were observed crying during long procedures in cold, dark rooms with flickering fluorescent lights.
Empathize: GE Healthcare’s team observed children in various environments, spoke to experts, and interviewed hospital staff to gain more insight into their experiences. After extensive user research, hospital pilots, and reiteration, GE Healthcare launched the “Adventure Series.”
Define: This redesign initiative focused on making magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines more child-friendly.
Ideate: Transforms MRI machines from dark to user friendly manner.
Prototype: For example, the “Pirate Adventure” transforms MRI machines from dark, black holes to pirate ships with scenery of beaches, sandcastles, and the ocean.
Testing or Implementation: By empathizing with children’s pain points, GE Healthcare was able to craft a creative solution that was not only fun but increased patient satisfaction scores by 90 percent. This also yielded unexpected successes, including improved scan quality of paediatric patients, and ultimately saved customers time and resources.
